Bingo Player Sues over Burn

Unlucky for Some

Most land based bingo clubs throughout the UK and other parts of the world serve food to customers as part of the whole bingo package and it is doing so that has seen a bingo club situated in Perth being sued. 36 year old Sandy McWilliams is suing Kings Bingo in Perth for £10,000 over a burn injury she claims happened when she went to get chicken curry for her dinner during one of the bingo interval breaks.

Ms McWilliams has stated that she has been scarred for life due to the burn injury she got whilst at Kings Bingo Club. This led her to launch a legal battle at the Perth Sherriff Crown Court, in attempt to claim compensation for her injury from (KE Entertainments) the parent company of Kings Bingo.

Speaking to the Scotsman, Sandy said, "They sell hot food and what I did was point at what was in one of the trays. Before I realised, I had burnt my arm. I still have a problem carrying shopping and things with my right hand."

It has been reported that KE Entertainments will be defending the case and from the comments we have seen listed on the Scotsman, not many people have much sympathy for Ms Williams in her suing plight.

One Comment said, “Another example of the compensation culture 'It was somebody else's fault' attitude. This woman was plain stupid for reaching out over hot food. Serves her right for being so stupid as to not realise that hot food is hot!!! I hope the court throws her case out and KE Entertainments get their costs paid by her.”

It does seem that people do try and sue companies now for all sorts of things in the UK and other parts of the world. Just the other day a news report of UK TV caught my eye where a mum was trying to sue, due to a three year old boy hitting her three year old boy whilst at nursery and causing him harm.

The suing culture it has to be said does seem to stem from America and some cases we have seen over the years have edged on the side of ridiculous – Political correctness gone wrong, you could say! We are not saying that is the case here, we are sure you can all make your minds up about that.
