As we know mistakes do happen, but it is not often that a mistake works in your favour, but it was a lottery scratch card mishap which won a Palace Bingo Club worker a whopping £1 million pound jackpot prize. 58 year old Audrey White went to buy a lottery scratch card from her local supermarket near where she lives in Suffolk. When purchasing the scratch card Audrey asked for a £2 card, but the lady working behind the till pulled off a £5 scratch card by mistake.
Audrey had just won £5 from a previous scratch card purchase, so she decided to keep the £5 card anyway and isn’t she glad she did because it was a £1 million pound winning scratch card! So this innocent mistake has now resulted in Audrey becoming a lottery scratch card millionaire!
Speaking to the press association, Mrs White, of Felixstowe, said: "I asked for a £2 card and she pulled out the £5 one by mistake. I'd already won £5 on another scratch card so I decided to have a go. I rubbed it off when I got home later and I just couldn't believe it - I'm still in a state of shock."
Mrs White has worked at her local Palace Bingo Club as an assistant manager for many years and she does not plan to give up her job as a result of her £1 million pound win. Audrey has three children and has experienced financial hardship over the years, just like millions of other people have in the UK.
It was reported that just three years ago Audrey faced losing her semi detached home, as it looked like it might end up being repossessed by the bank. However, thanks to her huge lottery scratch card win, this is something thankfully Audrey and her family will not have to worry about anymore. Mrs White now plans to pay off her mortgage and buy a new conservatory for her house.
Audrey added, "I've got a private bank account in Mayfair. I've got my own private banker. This sort of thing doesn't happen to an assistant bingo manager."
It is great to hear about a winning lottery story like Audrey’s and just like the game of bingo the lottery can change lives forever.
